Cumming Motors gets twinbill split in Rust Belt League (2024)

Cumming Motors split a twinbill with the Pittsburgh Mustangs in Rust Belt League action Sunday at Juniata, winning the opener 6-5 while dropping the nightcap 6-5.

In the opener, Cumming scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Tyreke Green and Aidan Steinbugl each had two hits and an RBI for the winners. Teammate Braedyn Kormanic added two hits and scored twice. Weston McClain struck out eight in five-plus innings for Cumming, but was not involved in the decision.

In the nightcap, the Mustangs scored six runs in the top of the third en route to the nine-run victory. Evan Summerson drove in two runs for Cumming.

Two for M&T

M&T Bank improved its record to 9-1 in the Altoona Teener 19U League Sunday, thanks to a 16-7 win over Cumming Motors and an 8-2 win over Professionals Auto Body in five innings, both at Seitz Field.

In the win over Cumming, Tyler Kerin had four hits and two RBIs for M&T, which also got three hits and three RBIs from Paul Wedel.

Caleb Shultz had two hits and an RBI for Cumming (2-7).

In the win over PAB (7-3), Dalton Dean had two hits for M&T in the win. Winning pitcher Paul Wedel struck out seven.

For PAB, Caleb Sanders had two hits and two RBIs to go with two hits from Caden Gibbons.

Gority tosses no-hitter

Shane Gority tossed a seven-inning no-hitter Sunday to help Gority Brothers Construction to an 8-1 win over Park Security in a Kelley Federation 13U League 54/80 game at Greenwood.

Gority struck out eight and walked five, giving up an earned run but without a hit.

Gority Bros. (8-1) got three hits and four RBIs from Alec Woodring.

On Saturday, Gority Brothers improved to 7-1 with an 8-5 win over Stuckey Automotive.

Connor Bennett had two RBIs for Gority’s, which was outhit, 6-4. The winners were the benefactors of 17 base on balls.

Thomas Kessinger had two RBIs for Stuckey’s (6-3). Teammate Vince Nedimyer had two hits.

Holzer leads Post 3

Ari Holzer collected four hits to help VFW Post 3 defeat Ashville VFW, 25-6 in a Kelley Federation 15U League game Saturday at Vets Field.

VFW improved to 7-3 in a game in which it scored 13 runs in the second inning. Holzer had two hits and three RBIs during the second inning. Bentley Mellott and Kaleb Swalga both finished with three RBIs each.

Asheville (1-6) got RBI bases-loaded walks from Cameron Coudriet, Trent Kalwasinski and Seth Snyder. Teammate Brayden Foreman finished with two hits.
