Gladys Ketcham, a retired missionary with the Assemblies of God, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Gladys was born October 24, 1906, in Greensburg, to Frederick Margaret Koch. She became a Christian at an early age, and after hearing a missionary speak, she dedicated her life to missions and felt God's call to India. She attended Beulah Heights Bible Training Institute where she met her future husband, Maynard Ketcham. He left for India in 1926 and a year later Gladys followed.

They were married in 1928 in Chapra, India, and went to the small town of Purulia. Gladys started an orphanfor girls and soon had babies arriving at the house in rapid succession. Thanks to a gift from an American lady, a large orphanage was built. Gladys was "Mom" to hundreds of Indian girls and she later secured Christian husbands for many of them. The Ketchams later moved to Calcutta, India, and then to Springfield when he became Field Secretary for India and Asia.

Gladys took several overseas trips with Maynard and spent much time in Korea. In her she learned sign language CBC and titt*es, worked there with deaf students as well as in the deaf church at Central Assembly. After retirement, she and Maynard lived in Maranatha village. Several years after Maynard's death, she moved to Texas and lived with her granddaughter, Donna Juillergiadys is survived by one daughter, Mariorie and her husband Rev. Ernest Jones; one son, Dr.

David Ketcham and his wife, Gwen; three grandsons, Dr. Grant Jones, Dr. Jeff Ketcham, and Rev. Derek Ketcham; three granddaughters, Karen Harper, Janice Hayes, and Donna Juillerat; and 16 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in the Maranatha Chapel on Saturday, September 17, at 2 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Smiley.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery after the memorial service. Family will be at the Maranatha Chapel at 1 p.m., to meet with friends. Memorial contributions in Gladys Ketcham's name can be sent to Assemblies of God World Missions, Asia Pacific Theological Seminary, ac. no. 911105 (24).

The Ketchams have been personally involved in this Seminary since its foundation. Betty Lou Carden Betty Lou Carden, age 80, of Nixa, died September 12, 2005. She was born October 11, 1924, in Springfield. She was employed for approximately 15 years with St. John's Hospital until her retirement in 1990.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed camping and fishing as well as bird watching and reading. She was also an avid Lady Bears fan. Her favorite activity though, was spending time with her family, to whom she was very devoted. Betty Carden is survived by her son, George, Gary Carden, of daughter, Kathy Wyrsch Eldridge and husband, William of Joplin, daughter, Robin Gobetz and husband, Paul Severance of Indianapolis, and five grandchildren, Justin Wyrsch, Springfield, Michael Wyrsch, Joplin, Kelsey Carden, Ozark, Lynsey Ozark, and Will Gobetz, Indianapolis, as well as many friends. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m., Saturday, September 17, in Adams FUneral Home, Nixa.

for the Woodrow Loveland Woodrow Loveland passed from this life at 12:28 a.m. on September 1 13, 2005, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born April 26, 1915, near Rogersville, to Elvin and Lula (Hodges) Loveland. He was one of six children, his sisters and brothers being Mary, Edwyna, Goldie, Charlie, and Ivyl, all deceased.

Woodrow is survived by his loving wife and son, Oneata and Terry; a devoted niece, Dorann Thoreen; and many other loving and caring relatives and friends. Woodrow and Oneata were married June 28, 1936, in Springfield, by E.A. Williams. To this marriage was born one son, Terry L. Loveland, recently retired from teaching at Missouri State University.

Woodrow went to high school in Rogersville where he was an avid member of the baseball (pitcher), track, and basketball teams. He loved baseball and a lifelong interest was sparked in the St. Louis Cardinals. His parents owned and operated a general store near Rogersville. After graduation from high school, he taught at McHaffie grade school for one year.

friend introduced him to Oneata Gaddis of Mountain Grove, Mo. Last June 28, Oneata and Woodrow celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Woodrow worked 43 years for the Springfield Wholesale Grocer Company, becoming the office manager. In addition to serving as a song leader and class teacher, he served as a deacon and elder for more than 40 years at the North National Church of Christ. His many students of past years gave him a surprise party this past year in recognition of his impact on their lives.

After retiring from the Grocer Company, he did some preaching at Greenfield, and Sparta, Mo. He led a great Christian life. Woodrow, along with his family, loved to travel; trips took them to Canada and Mexico and 48 of the 50 states. His two favorite trips were to Banff, Canada, and Hawaii (where popular Hawaiian singer Don Ho invited Oneata and Woodrow onstage during a show). Woodrow was a wonderful husband, father, and friend.

He was loved and respected by many. He will be missed so very much. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, September 16, in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Bill McFarland officiating. Visitation is from. 7 to 8 p.m., tonight, in neral home.

Donald E. Sartin Donald E. Sartin, 73, of Knob Noster, died Monday, September 12, 2005, at the local hospital. Survivors include his wife, Wilma "Peggy" Sartin, Knob Noster; a daughter, Elaine Hanco*ck and husband, Don of Nixa, three grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, and Ashley Hanco*ck, all of Nixa; a son, Steve Sartin and wife, Nicole of Knob Noster and expecting their child in January of 2006; and two sisters, Betty Evans of Warrensburg and Wanda Kindle of Odessa, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2005, in the Heartland Church of Knob Noster.

Richard Carroll Keen, Sr. Richard Carroll Keen, was born September 9, 1922, in Oklahoma City, to Fred Millard Keen and Nora Bell (Strader) Keen. He passed away on September 12, 2005, surrounded by his loving family and minister. Richard graduated from Classen High School in 1941. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S.

Army Air Corps in North Africa and Italy. After his discharge, he attended Oklahoma City University. He was united in marriage with his loving wife, LaFaun (Martin) Keen on May 25, 1947. Richard held a life membership in the National Order of DeMolay. He was a 50 year perpetual member of the Siloam Masonic Lodge in Oklahoma City.

He was a Boy Scout as a youth and later Scout Master of his son's troop. He began his business career with Commercial Credit Corporation in Oklahoma City. He was transferred to Wichita and then Topeka, Kan. he began his 32 year employment with Chrysler Corporation. He served as a District Manager in Salina, and Oklahoma City.

He was promoted to the Kansas City Zone offices as Dodge Distribution Coordinator and later became Assistant Distribution Manager. Richard enjoyed golf throughout his adult life. After his retirement in Springfield, he enjoyed the company of his golfing buddies every Wednesday. He also maintained his intense interest in automobiles. He was active in the Methodist Men's Group of his church.

He is survived by his loving wife, LaFaun; his son, Richard C. Keen, of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Carol L. Orloski and her husband, John, of Bartlesville, grandson, Jeffrey A. Orloski of Grand Prairie, Texas; and granddaughter, Stephanie L. Orloski, Valley Village, Calif.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2005, in King's Way United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Oklahoma City, with full military honors. Informal visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m., today, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel and formal visitation will be held Friday, September 16, at 9 a.m. until service time, in the church. Norman Vincent Gomes, 90, see obituary, CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS Rev. Gladys Ketcham, 98, see obituary, Norman Vincent Gomes Norman Vincent Gomes, born Nov 7, 1914, passed away on September 12, 2005, at the age of 90. Norman led a full and productive life. In 1933, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he rose to the rank of company commander in charge of rehabilitation of CCC camps. As company commander he was responsible for the administration, housing, training and general welfare of 200 to 300 men.

In 1941, 1 he was called into active duty for the U.S. Army. He served stateside as the Post Engineer at the Prisoner of War Camp in Scottsbluff, where he supervised the organization of the maintenance and repair facilities for the post. He was discharged from Army in 1946, having earned the rank of major. He went on to get his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University and an MBA in Management from Xavier University.

He worked for General Electric, General Dynamics, and most importantly to him, the Jet Propulsion Lab at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, Calif. He went on to work for the federal government as an industry representative and consultant Commission on Government Procurement, then as an administrative officer and program director for the General Services Administration, from which he retired in 1978. While at the GSA he received several outstanding performance awards. Norman also spent time as an educator: he was a visiting lecturer in industrial management at Xavier University and a visiting lecturer in management at San Antonio College. He believed in giving back to the community by being active in the San Antonio chapter of Serra International, and on the boards of the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Council of the Northeast Independent School District in San Antonio, and the Visiting Nurses Association of San Antonio.

A devout Catholic, he was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and the Knights of Columbus. He married Carolyn Moore of Springfield, in 1942. They were married until her death in 1983. Twelve years later he met and fell in love with Helen Kurzawa. They married and lived in Burnet until eight years ago, when they moved back to San Antonio.

They then moved to Austin to be closer to family. Norman is survived by his wife Helen, her daughter and husband, Jane and Robin Cravey, her son and wife, Bob and Cindy Kurzawa; grandchildren, Emma and Molly Cravey, and Kayla and Nick Kurzawa. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grandnieces in New Bedford, and Springfield, Mo. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday, September. 16, 2005, at 1 p.m.

in the National Cemetery in Springfield with Msgr. Thomas Reidy officiating under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. No visitation is planned.

(Boyd) Williams, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Magnolia Square. She was united in marriage to Harvey Elmer Phillips August 25, 1945, and together they had five children. Ona worked as a cashier for most of her early life and retired from Zenith in 1977 to take care of Harvey, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1981. Her hobbies included ceramics and needlework especially crocheting. Ona's favorite places she had visited were Disneyland and Seaworld in California.

Ona will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include daughters, Janice Moore and husband, John, and Patti Phillips, all of Springfield; sons, David Phillips and wife, Marsha of Blue Springs, Richard Phillips and wife, Pamela of Oklahoma, and Donald Phillips of Springfield; step son, Norman Phillips of Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joan James of Dallas, Texas; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends. Her parents; brothers, Bill and Pete Williams; daughter, Ruth Hubbard; and stepdaughter, Judy Densmore, all preceded her in death. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005, in Thieme-Shadel-Hicks FUneral Service at White Chapel with Reverend Charles Hufft officiating.
